Finally
Olive is the second band from Syria that they send
to me their work. The first band was last year, if i am not
mistaken, with the name Nuclear Dawn. I remember
that their stuff was good enough and i had impressed from
their album. But back to Olive, having only one demo
last year, they decide to record their debut self financed
album with the title "The Awaking" this year
with eleven songs plus two bonus tracks. Actually the bonus
tracks are from their last year demo CD. Musically the band
walks in melodic doom metal paths, with female and male vocals
both clean ones. Also because the band comes from Syria, they
have put some folk music elements in their music and generally
their compositions are well worked, with interesting ideas.
Also besides this they have a very good production and sound,
maybe the mixing could be better but i think in their next
step they will be more mature for all of these. Olive
has all the abilities to become a very good band and not another
average band. If they will continue to work hard i think we
will hear something better that their enough good debut album.
I hope their country will be not a problem for them. Until
their next step....
