Sometimes
i am surprised by the releases that i receive from United
States. The latest demo that reached my door was the debut
demo from The Kolios Project. This demo was released
earlier this year and it contains four tracks. The first thing
that you will notice is that this is an instrumental album...
so you dig in just to discover some diamonds in this instrumental
progressive metal work. Instrumental albums aren't the easiest
things to listen to, but if the band knows how to create their
music and not bore the listener i think it is really good
to hear such works. Their compositions are well worked and
you can see that their song structure is above average. I
am sure that if these guys had lyrics too then we will have
the opportunity to speak for a great progressive metal band.
I agree with the band that wants to stay in the instrumental
paths, but in this way their music will be a little bit more
difficult for the whole progressive fans. Always it is easier
to get the feel for a song with lyrics than without lyrics.
