I will write it again, everywhere you can find a Greek man and in Area 54 is Lakis Kyriacou from Cyprus, who is the leader of the band and the responsible for the vocals and the guitars. "Beckoning of the End" is their latest album which released before three years but as i know the band work on their new album and Lakis make a gift to us and include two tracks from the forthcoming album too. The album begins with a very melodic tune "Living a lie" and i am wonder how many of us living a lie. I can say also that this is one of the best opening tracks that i have heard the past months, with great guitar riffs. But generally the music from Area 54 is based on guitars and Lakis with the help from Steve had made some great guitar solos and some interesting riffs. The compositions from this album are well worked with interesting ideas and well structured songs. It seems that in all these eight years of existence the band knows what sound want to bring to the album and they give to us their best efforts. The thing that impressed me is that Lakis sings melodic and when i reach the ninth track "Cancer of the Mind" i hear a great death metal voice and then i saw that it was the voice of Tomas Lindberg (ex At the Gates). Now as far as the new tracks of course we have them in their demo version but i can say that the band has done a step forward and their music is a little bit more extreme but only the music not the vocals. The main vocals are still melodic and Lakis did their best in both sections as a singer and guitar player. Personally i like the "Losing Grip", it has clean and extreme vocals, it begins with a very nice keyboard part but also has a dark atmosphere. I hope soon the band will record the new album and i hope we will have the chance to hear it.

SCORE out of 8.2/10 Antonis Maglaras
